During busy or tiring days and when there’s only limited time to cook, I always order take-out food, especially pepper steak, and that is what we usually eat for dinner. I really loved it to the point that I was wondering if I can recreate the dish at home, and just in time, I found this recipe by Soul Food Cooking on YouTube, and I immediately gave it a try. It was so delicious, if not better than the original and I would surely make this again.
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, add the steak and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, then give them a good mix until combined, and set it aside. In another bowl, add the sherry, remaining 4 tablespoons of soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, oyster sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, and cornstarch, then whisk them all together until combined and uniform. Place a pan on a stove over medium heat, then bring it to temperature before adding the oil, and then place the steak. Give them a good toss and cook them for about 4 minutes or until nice and brown and set them aside until later.

Step 2
In the same pan, add the white portion of the scallion along with the garlic and ginger, then saute them for 1 minute, and then add the bell peppers along with the green portion of the scallion. Give them a good toss and continue to sautee them for about 2 minutes, then put the cooked steak back into the pan, and add the sauce as well. Mix them all together, then allow it to simmer for about 4 minutes, and serve. Enjoy!
