This incredibly delicious recipe by RecipeTin Eats on YouTube is the perfect dish to serve for dinner especially if you’re on a budget or if you don’t have a lot of time to prepare for a meal. I love making this whenever I can because it’s so simple and easy to put together but it can still manage to be so tasty and yummy. This is also very convenient to make because the recipe calls for canned tunas which is something that I happen to always have in my cupboard. If you also want to give this a try, then read the written instructions down below, and watch the video tutorial as well.

Ingredients:

  • 7 ounces of spaghetti, or other thin and long pasta
  • 1 tbsp of cooking salt, for cooking pasta

Tuna Sauce

  • 10 ounces or 3 (3.5 ounces each) cans of canned tuna in oil, drained and oil reserved
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 2 anchovy fillets, minced
  • ½ tsp of chili flakes or red pepper flakes, optional
  • 2 tsp of baby capers or finely chopped pickles
  • 1 tbsp of parsley, finely chopped, optional
  • 1 tsp of lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp of lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp of cooking or kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp of black pepper

Directions:

Step 1

Place a large pot on a stove over medium-high heat, then add about 3 liters or 3 quarts of water, and bring it to a boil. Add the pasta along with a teaspoon of salt, then cook them according to the package instructions. Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest of the water and set the pasta aside. Place the same pot back on the stove, then add the oil from the tuna cans, and allow it to heat up over medium heat.

Step 2

Next, add the garlic, anchovies, and chili flakes, then give them a good toss, and cook for about 1 minute. Now, add the pasta, capers, and 1/3 of the reserved pasta water, then toss them together for about 2 minutes until combined, and then add the tuna, parsley, lemon zest, juice, salt, and pepper. Continue to toss them together gently until fully combined, then serve immediately, and enjoy!
