What’s a better way to repurpose your old jeans than to turn them into this DIY small denim laundry basket? I super love this idea by wandee easy sewing. It’s cute, useful, and sturdy too! You can place your clothes or things inside the basket and it will still look good in your place. Watch the video below for full instructions.
Get your old pair of jeans and fold them in half. Measure 12″ from the lower waist jeans, and mark it. Make a line from that mark and cut it.
Remove the waistband, tag, and belt loops using a seam ripper.
Cut it in the middle following the seams. Remove the fly part, then cut the denim fabric in half.
Get a piece of paper measuring 17 1/4″ by 10″ and use it as a pattern. Cut two rectangles on the denim using this pattern. Get the waistband and cut it at the same size as the long side of the rectangle, then cut it in half. Sew each on the denim rectangles.
Place the denim with the waistband right side down, then put the same size of infusible interfacing on the top. Press it with an iron, then glue the same size polyester fiber sheet on top. Trim off excess. Repeat on the other rectangle.

Place the two rectangles right side together and sew with a quarter-inch seam allowance. Fold to get the midpoint.
Make two handles with the lining fabric.
Get the bottom part of the jeans and cut one leg in the middle. Cut a 10 1/2″ diameter circle. Press the fusible interfacing and stitch the polyester sheet. Fold and get the midpoint.
Stitch the circle on the bottom of the sewn rectangles. Flip it right side out.
Sew the handles.
Make the lining the same process as the denim but leave a 5″ gap on the side.
Place the basket inside the lining and sew on top.
Pull it right side out from the opening, then close the gap. Top stitch the edge.
