This recipe by Savor Easy on YouTube is now one of my favorite cake flavors, I have made this thrice now ever since I learned how to bake this yummy treat. It is super easy to prepare and tastes so good, and even my family loves it! I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of eating this cake anytime soon, so if you want to give this a try as well, then read the instructions written down below, and watch the video tutorial while you’re at it. Ingredients:

Cake

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup oil
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup hot water
  • 1 tbsp instant coffee

Frosting

  • 1½ cup whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp icing sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 1-2 tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp hot water

Directions:

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, add the sugar, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, then whisk them all together until well combined, and add the egg, oil, milk, and vanilla. Give them a good whisk to combine, then add the hot water and instant coffee, and continue to whisk them together until incorporated and smooth. Line a cake pan with parchment paper making sure to leave some excess hanging on the sides for easy unmolding later, then pour the cake batter into the prepared pan, and spread it evenly. Place the pan in a preheated oven, then let the cake bake at 180°C or 356°F for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean.

Step 2

Once done baking, unmold the cake, then transfer it to a wire cooling rack, and let it cool down completely. In a large mixing bowl, add the whipping cream, icing sugar, and cocoa powder, then beat them together until fluffy, add the instant coffee and hot water, and fold until well mixed. Beat the frosting until incorporated, then cut the cooled cake through in half, and spread some of the frostings on top of the bottom cake layer. Place the top layer of the cake above the frosting, then cover the whole cake with frosting, smoothen it out, and add some swirls as shown in the video. Pipe the remaining frosting on top, then garnish with some coffee beans, serve, and enjoy!
