Start with one solid and one print charm pack. Put those together, right sides together, then draw a diagonal line 1/4″ away from the center on both sides. Pin to secure opposite of the lines. Stitch directly on these lines, then cut in the center, corner to corner. After this, press to one side, then press open. Make 144 of these half-square triangles. Once everything is nice and flat, trim all your half-square triangles to 4 & 1/2″.

In building your block, have two matching half-square triangles with the whites in the center and two matching half-square triangles with the darks in the center. Pin at both intersections, then stitch down a 1/4″ seam. After this, pin them right sides together and sew. Now, grab your ruler and mark 2 & 3/4″ away and trim. Next, rotate twice counter-clockwise and cut it 3/4″. Rotate once counter-clockwise again and cut 2 & 3/4″. Rotate again twice counter-clockwise and cut 2 & 3/4″. The corner pieces are your number 1 pieces, the center is number 3, and the remaining pieces are your number 2. Leave your ones and three just like they are, and rotate your number twos at 180 degrees. Pin them in place, stitch a 1/4″ seam, and press according to your pattern. Add your last row, press open, then sew all the rows together.
