Place the halved carrots and quartered onions on the bottom of the slow cooker.
Remove the chicken from the packaging and any extra parts from the inside of the chicken. Also, drain any liquid.
Place the chicken on top of the carrots and onions, then pour 1/2 cup of butter. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze over the chicken, make sure to remove the seeds.
Season the chicken with 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Once done, place the lid on the slow cooker.
Cook it on low for about 7 to 8 hours. The time may vary as the chicken you’ll be using might have a different size. The chicken is done cooking when the drumsticks start pulling away from the breasts and the juices running is clear. To make sure it is done, you can use a thermometer. The safe temperature for chicken is 165 degrees F.
