Cut your white fabric into 2 1/2 inch strips. Line them up then cut them into 2 1/2 inch squares. Stack them and set them aside.
Cut the remaining white fabric into 6 1/2 inch squares. Next, place a white fabric on the bottom of a layer cake then cut them into 3-inch strips. Cut one 2 1/2 inch square right on the corner of one strip. Measure 3-inch squares then trace with a pencil or marker. Draw a diagonal from one corner to the other for each square.
Sew a quarter of an inch away on the top and bottom of the diagonal line for each square. Once done, cut them into 3-inch squares first then the diagonal lines. Trim off the excess fabrics and press the seams to the dark side.
Take the first 4 patches and stack 2 pairs on up right sides together. They should be alternating. Sew them together. Once done, open then flip it the other way. Now, press the top seam up. Swirl the center by cutting some stitches on the center then lay the block flat and give it pressure on the seams on the center. You’ll need 4 of these for the outer corners. For the sides, it will be 3 rows of 3-inch squares with the bottom of the top corner and the tip of the bottom corner then the middle star aligned slightly to the left with the outer tip sewn on a white strip fabric. For the middle of the top and bottom, the friendship star will be aligned lower with the tip on a white strip of fabric. Place the 6 1/2 square in the middle.
Sew them together and you have a circle of friends block.
