Ingredients:

  • 5 tablespoons of butter
  • 20 original Oreo cookies
  • 1 1/2 cup of self-rising flour
  • 1 cup of white granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup of hot water

Note: to make self-rising flour: in a bowl add 1 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 1/4 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, then whisk together.

Instructions:

Step 1:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Put 5 tablespoons of butter into a 9 x 13 baking dish and place in the oven. Allow it to melt and remove it from the oven. Keep an eye on the butter while it’s melting as you don’t want it to get brown. Leave the oven heated.

Step 2:

Break the Oreo cookies into 4 pieces each. Don’t pulverize them into crumbs. Place the pieces of Oreos on top of the butter in a single layer. If you need more, break some more Oreos.

Step 3:

Get a medium mixing bowl and add the self-rising flour. Add in the granulated sugar, vanilla, and milk. Stir all the ingredients until the batter forms. Make sure to not overmix it.

Step 4:

Pour the batter all over the cookies in the baking dish. Next, sprinkle some brown sugar over the batter, then pour hot water on top.

Step 5:

Place in the oven and bake for 35 minutes. Once done, allow to rest on the stovetop for about 5 minutes before serving. You can enjoy it with ice cream or whipped topping.
