Did you know that you can make your own distilled water at home? Well, now you do. So, instead of buying them, try following this method and turn your ordinary tap water into drinking water with only a few easy steps. Learn how, through this simple video tutorial by Columbia Water Gardens on YouTube.
Step 1
Place a large pot on a stove or burner, then fill it with tap water about 1/3 from the bottom, just enough to make your dish float. Turn on the flame and set it to medium up to high heat. Place and cover the pot with an oversized lid upside down, let the water bring to a boil. As the water boils, the steam will create a build-up of water on the lid, those droplets of water will slide down and return onto the collecting dish inside the pot.

Step 2
While the lid is still cool, grab a few handfuls of ice, and then place it on the top and center of the lid, make sure not to place them while it’s hot or the glass will shatter. This step will help the process for faster condensation. When the collecting dish is filled, then turn off the heat and start skimming the water out of the dish using a measuring cup. Transfer the collected distilled water onto a flask or container.
