Donut dough
Glaze
Step 1
Combine 1/2 cup warm water, 1/4 cup warm milk, 2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar in a mixing bowl or measuring cup. Whisk all the ingredients until well combined. Let the yeast mixture rest for around 5 minutes until it has risen and frothed up. Using a stand mixer, combine 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup melted butter, 1 egg, 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, and ½ teaspoon salt. Pour and add the yeast mixture, then start mixing at low speed until fully combined. Increase the speed to a high setting and continue beating for 5 more minutes (You can add a tablespoon of flour at a time if the dough turns out to be too sticky. Don’t add too much flour so that the donuts don’t become too dry).

Step 2
Prepare and grease a large bowl, then place the dough. Cover it with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, then leave it for about an hour until it rises or doubles in size. Once the dough is ready, punch it down to release the air bubbles. Place the dough onto a floured surface, then start flattening the dough at about half an inch thick with a rolling pin. Use 2 sizes of round cookie cutters, then start cutting out the donuts. Take the scraps and reshape, then cut as much as you can. Line your sheet pan with parchment paper, place the donuts and cover lightly, then let them rise for about 20-30 minutes.
Step 3
Preheat the air fryer at 345°F then spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place a few donuts in the air fryer but make sure that they have ample spaces apart from each other. Fry the donuts for about 5 to 6 minutes, repeat the process with all of the remaining donuts. Place the donuts onto a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oils. Prepare the glaze in a large bowl by combining 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup milk, 1 tablespoon light corn syrup, and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Dip the warm donuts in the glaze and let them set in a cooling rack.
