This might not be your most exciting DIY project, but it’s necessary!

Have you ever wondered why your tools have a funky smell when you open up the tool drawer? Well, they start rusting from the elements they’re exposed to and they need to be cleaned like everything else does.

In this tutorial he shows you how to clean up your tools to make them look new again, and stop the stinky odor from the rust.

He soaks them in vinegar, then uses one part baking soda and two parts water, soaks them for 5 minutes in this solution, rinses with water, drys off and, this is optional, but you can coat the tools with coconut oil for extra protection.

You can do the same thing with garden tools, since we’re all guilty of leaving them outside every now and then. After a long season of garden projects and chores, sometimes we forget to give our tools a good cleaning and proper storage. When we return to our garden sheds in the spring, we find that some of our favorite garden tools are rusted.

I decided that starting out with clean tools would be good incentive to take better care of them.

Tools aren’t cheap so we’ve gotta take care of them. On the plus side of that is not having to put up with the stinky smell while using them and having our hands smell afterwards.

Watch how he does this in his step by step tutorial so you can clean up your tools!
