Easy Barn Raising Quilt Block Materials

  • layer cake (10 inch square)
  • charm pack (5 inch square)

How to Make Barn Raising Quilt

Step 1:

Take one dark layer cake and one light charm square. Fold each in half twice to make a crease and find the center on all sides. Place the light charm square on top of the dark layer cake, making sure it is centered. Use the lines as a guide. Sew it in place with a quarter-inch seam allowance.

Step 2:

Take one of the squares and draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the back.

Step 3:

Place the two squares on top of each other, right sides together, with the drawn line on top.

Step 4:

Sew on both sides of the line with a 1/4″ seam allowance just as you would to make a regular half-square triangle. Once done, cut directly on the diagonal line. Set the seam, and press it open toward the dark side.

Step 5:

Repeat steps 1 to 4 with the remaining squares.

Step 6:

Arrange the blocks just like in the photo below.
