Whether you’re a sewing enthusiast or a seasoned tailor, understanding these reasons will not only save you time but also ensure smoother sewing sessions. So, start unraveling the mystery behind those tangled threads and get your machine running smoothly again! Watch the video below to learn these three tips that will make your sewing life so much easier.
The first reason starts at the very beginning. If the thread tails are just loose, there’s a high chance they’re going to tangle with each other while you sew. The best practice to avoid this is to hold on to the thread tails at the very beginning up to a couple of stitches, then you can go on with sewing without worrying about your thread jamming.
The second reason lies in how you use the hand wheel on the side of your machine. Remember that the hand wheel should only move in just one direction and 99% of the time going to be toward you. (To be 100% sure, check the manual of your machine to know if the hand wheel is supposed to move toward you or away from you.) The reason why you don’t turn your wheel in a different direction is because your thread will have extra slack and it will cause your bobbin thread to jam.
Lastly, keep your eye on the thread takeup lever. The takeup lever and the topmost position of the needle should be exactly the same, and when you’re finishing, make sure to stop the takeup lever in its highest possible position.
