This is such a lovely little DIY sewing project. It may look complicated, but it’s really very easy to make…my kind of project for sure!

She uses the template ruler to cut wedges of rich solids and then lines them up in a row for a simple, geometric quilted table runner. When I first saw this it reminded me of a backgammon board!

I’ve also seen these made with two rows of smaller wedges and they definitely look like a backgammon board!

This table runner looks so pretty on a dining room table with a vase of flowers in the center. It adds a lot of charm to the room.

A table runner is a great way to accessorize your table. It dresses up the centre of the table, running the length, unlike the usual table cloth. This allows for the table’s own character to also shine through, especially if you have a great wooden table.

Table runners can help create many different types of looks, ranging from rustic to festive and shabby chic to formal. They weren’t very common before, but now they’ve become very popular.

There is nothing I love more than giving gifts that have been made or bought with great thought given to the recipient. Going beyond something I know they will probably like to making something they will love.

Watch how Laura Coia, with Sew Very Easy, makes this easy table runner so you can get started on one for you family dining table.
