  • 1 1/2 yards of background
  • 1 1/4 yard of border

How to Make a Wedge Diamond Quilt

Step 1:

Get one layer cake and place the wedge template with the long side lined up on the edge. Cut it out, but make sure not to go over the tip, as you will be cutting two triangles from the layer cake. Turn it around, align the template again, and cut. Repeat with the other layer cakes and background fabric.

Step 2:

You will need four background wedges and four colored wedges. Get a background wedge and a color wedge. Lay them right sides together with the solid color on the bottom. Match them up point to point and sew a 1/4″ right down the side. Repeat for the remaining ones. Make sure the solid color is always on the bottom. Iron them open with the dark color on the top.

Step 3:

Sew the pairs together, then press them flat.

Step 5:

Take one triangle and finger press in half to make a crease. Do the same thing on the piece you are putting it on. Lay the triangle on top with the creases  aligned. Pin in place. Repeat with the other corners. Sew the triangles. Trim into a square.
