Materials:

  • one roll of 2.5″ strips
  • 1 & 3/4 yards background fabric (includes inner border)
  • 1 & 3/4 yards outer border fabric
  • 5 & 1/2 yards backing (vertical seams)

Directions:

Step 1

To start, take your roll apart and match them up together in sets of two. Lay them right sides together and sew 1/4″ right down the side. Do this to the whole pack. Once you get your strips all sewn together, you’ll have 21 sets of them. Press these open. Fold the strip set and cut 5″ pieces off of this. Attach one piece to one side of the white charm, lay it along the edge, and sew 1/4″ right down the side, then press it open.

Step 2

Take your other strip and cut the selvage edge off again, then cut a 9″ piece strip. Now, lay this strip to the white charm strip and sew them right side together. After sewing, press it open and that is your whole block. Next, lay out your blocks. For the first row, lay the first block strips at the bottom and the white charm at the top, then charm down and strips up. Just lay the blocks on this pattern. Once you get your rows sewn, the next row is going to start just the opposite.
