1st Block:

Cut four 3 3/4″ squares in the background fabric and four 3 3/4″ squares in a contrasting fabric. Next, take one fabric square and fold it on the diagonal, then fold again and pin. Repeat it to the remaining three, then pin them to the background squares. Sew the pinwheel pieces to the background squares. After this, sew the squares in pairs, then sew them again together to complete to block. Press the seams open to reduce the bulk.

2nd Block:

Cut a 10 1/2″ fabric square. Next, fold the square in half, right sides facing together, then press. Fold the square in half again in the opposite direction, and press without pressing over the previous line. Now, turn over and fold in all four corners, then press each crease carefully. Once done, mark the center of the folded square and turn it over. Fold back both sides of the square and meet in the middle, carefully pressing along the creases. Now, do the same in the opposite direction, then make the petals (see picture below). After this, open each petal, and pin, then form each petal. Once done, sew all the petals in the middle, then sew a button where all the petals join in the center. After sewing, unfold the base square. Sew two strips of fabric (5″ x 3 1/2″) to each side, then cut and sew 11″ x 3 1/2″ strips to the other two sides.
