If you love easy and fun quilts, this tumbling charms pattern from Sewing Studio on Youtube is perfect. You can make this quilt pattern in various ways; you can use charm packs, a jelly roll, or even make your own stack! You will absolutely enjoy making this, I’m sure. Watch the video tutorial below and learn the step-by-step instructions.
Join a strip of 2 & 1/2″ white fabric to a piece of patterned fabric. Sew them together using a 1/4″ seam. After this, press it to set the seam and flip it back and trim it off. Alternatively, if you want to do a long strip, you could do something called flag or chain piecing. For this, take a long piece of white fabric and join all your flags. Next, sew another white piece all the way to the end.

If you wanted to cut all of your white strips in advance and do them singularly instead of chain piecing, you could cut your five 2 & 1/2″, then cut a 7″ x 2 & 1/2″ and that’s your two sizes. That way, you can have a big stack of the smaller piece, then a big stack of the longer piece. Then you press that and flip that back, and that gives you your block. Now, for laying out, lay your patterned piece top right, then choose a contrasting block and put it bottom left, then go top right again and bottom left. Next row, start with the bottom left, then the top right. You just do this alternately until you finish your quilt top.
