Last night, my niece came over to visit and as a loving aunt, I made her favorite bread rolls that she would always order whenever we eat at Texas Roadhouse. At first, preparing for the bread rolls was nerve-wracking because it’s my first attempt at copycat bread rolls with cinnamon honey butter spread. But all of that was worth it once we’ve tasted it, we sure did empty the plate quicker than I expected, and she even asked me to make them for her again. All thanks to Savor Easy for making this recipe!

Ingredients:

Bread Rolls

  • 1 tbsp (10g) Sugar
  • 2 tsp Active dry yeast
  • 1 cup (236 ml) Warm milk
  • 3 and 1/3 cup (415g) All-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp (30g) Sugar
  • 1 tsp (5g) Salt
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/3 cup (75g) Melted butter

Cinnamon-Honey Butter

  • 1 stick (½ cup or 100g) Unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup Icing/powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon

Directions:

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the sugar, active dry yeast, and warm fresh or evaporated milk, let it bloom for about 10 minutes or until foamy. Add in the egg and melted butter, then whisk until incorporated. Add in the all-purpose flour, sugar, and salt, then mix it by hand until it becomes a dough. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes uncovered. Then, transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place it in an oiled bowl and cover with cling/plastic wrap, place it in a warm area and let it sit for 1 hour until the size has doubled.

Step 2

Punch the dough to release the air, then transfer it onto a floured board, and start to flatten it with a rolling pin. Shape it into a rectangle with a half-inch thickness. Trim the sides, then cut individually width a 2×2 inch size. Transfer them onto a greased sheet pan lined with parchment paper, about an inch apart from each other, cover and let it proof again for 30 minutes, then brush the top with some milk.

Step 3

Bake it in a preheated oven at 356°F or 180°C for about 15-18 minutes, 15 will appear lighter but fluffier, while 18 will make it more golden and firm. Get a small bowl, then add in a stick of softened butter and icing/powdered sugar, whisk it until well combined. Add in the honey and cinnamon powder, then mix and set aside. Brush the bread rolls with melted butter, then serve with cinnamon honey butter mixture on the side.
