This tail of Benjamin’s kite quilt block is an enjoyable classic pattern that you can easily make at home. If you noticed, it is very similar to Jacob’s ladder, with the other parts just slightly different in orientation. This is definitely easy to sew and not complicated at all. Some of its parts are half-square triangles, and others are just two strips cut into segments. Even a beginner can create this block with ease through this tutorial by my sewing room!

Get the 5″ printed squares and place them on top of the 5″ background squares, right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on each set. Once done, sew a quarter of an inch seam allowance on both sides of the line for each one. After that, cut exactly on the line.
Get the strips and place them on top of each other. Sew on the side with a quarter of an inch seam allowance.
Open them and press them with an iron. Trim the half-square triangles into 4 1/2″ squares. Take the long strip and cut the end off, then cut 8 segments that are 2 1/2″ wide.
Get two patches and sew them together to make a four-patch. Make sure that the background squares are on opposite sides. Repeat with the remaining segments. Once done, press them open.
Arrange the blocks as shown below. Sew them in rows first, then press each one open. After that, sew the three rows together. Make sure that they are aligned. Once done, press the block open.
