Make the honey butter. Cream 1/2 cup of butter in a bowl, then add the honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well combined.
Lay a sheet of cling wrap into your work surface, then transfer the mixture. Cover with the cling wrap then roll to form like a sausage. Twist the sides to secure. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Cook the sweet potatoes until fork tender. Drain and place in a bowl. Mash using a fork.
In a different bowl, add the flour, sugar, dark brown sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Whisk until well combined.
Add the cubed unsalted butter to the flour mixture then mix using your hands until crumbly.
Add the buttermilk to the mashed potatoes. Whisk until well combined. Add the flour mixture and mix until crumbly.
Dust your work surface with flour, then transfer the dough. Form into a square, the cut into 8 equal pieces. Place them in a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top of each piece with melted butter.
Bake them at 425F for 20 minutes.
Serve the biscuits with honey butter.
