Materials:

  • plastic planter
  • sandpaper
  • surface primer
  • cement-based tile grout
  • course builders sand
  • water
  • white tile adhesive
  • black paint

Directions:

Step 1

Wash the plastic planter thoroughly and give the exterior a good sanding. After this, apply a surface primer on the surface as well on the inside just a part way down. Let it dry for 20 minutes. Next, mix some cement-based tile grout, course builders’ sand, and a bit of water. Once done, place the pot upside down, then cover the base all the way around the bottom rim. After you cover the whole pot, put the pot on its base, then put some of the mixture around the rim below the soil level line.

Step 2

As it starts to dry, start smoothing off the surface to knock off any big lumps, work out different marks, and leave the texture there. Once done, add some white tile adhesive to make the texture more stone-like. Now, mix some black paint with water and use an old toothbrush to flick marks all over the pot. Lastly, dab some brown color to knock off the brightness of the white. Let the paint completely dry.
