If you’re in the mood for a geometric quilt pattern, try making this stacking blocks quilt from Missouri Star on Youtube. It’s perfect if you’re just starting to explore geometric patterns, as it’s super easy to do. You don’t even need a rhombus, or, y seams here. Watch the video tutorial below to learn how to make this.
Take one 5″ square and one each of the 4 1/2″ medium and dark squares. Stack the medium and dark squares and cut them in half, corner to corner. Next, finger-pressed the 5″ square on all four sides as well as the triangles you just cut. After this, line the triangles on opposite sides of your 5″ square. Sew on both sides with a 1/4″ seam. After sewing, press open and trim the excess fabric. Next, fold again with the mark you made from finger-pressing, then take the dark triangles and lay them on opposite sides. Sew with a 1/4″ seam and press open. After sewing, square it up to 7″.

Next, iron the 6″ strip shape flex onto the back of your cuddle fabric, cut 5″ strips, and sub-cut those into 5″ squares. (Don’t iron them, just finger-pressed the seams back in between.) Now, cut some 7″ strips from the extra fabric that you have and sub-cut those into 3 3/4″ x 7″. Do the same cut with your medium and dark fabric. After this, start laying the 3 3/4″ medium square over the 3 3/4″ x 7″ strip and sew point to point. Cut the excess, and press it open. Then, set the dark square on the opposite side and do the same steps. Now for laying it out, start your first row with the half block and all of your blocks will sit exactly the same. For the next row, start with a whole block, then a half block. Repeat these steps until you have the whole top laid out.
