Sleds and skis are a must at Christmas time for me, I have always loved the iconic image of sleds and skis ever since I was a child. You cannot see a sled and not be in the mood for Christmas. I recently saw this video on youtube for a DIY Sled and skis made completely from popsicle sticks. I had so many I have made so many popsicle stick crafts, I just can’t get enough of them. I always keep a couple of jars full, on hand in the craft room in case I have children visiting or I find a new popsicle craft idea I haven’t done yet. This sled and ski ornament tutorial I found on Youtube was really great for me because I have made so many projects involving popsicle sticks, I always want more. The other best thing about this project is the fact I get to make a sled, YAY! I first started by going to Michaels Craft Store and getting my other supplies I needed for my DIY sled but did not have, wood glue, craft paint (red, white and brown), toothpicks, scissors, a paintbrush, a pencil, sandpaper, a ruler, brown felt, and my trusty glue gun. I started by cutting my cute popsicle sticks in the following measurements: One (1 3/4″) stick, Three (1 1/4″) sticks, Two (2 1/2″) sticks, Two (3″) sticks, and Two (4 1/2″) sticks.
Then I built a little ladder and painted it brown and then glued my little red sticks across it.
Then I just tied a little string at the end and painted some snowy bits near the front of the sled.
These sled ornaments look very professional and are cuter than you can even believe. I made enough to cover the entire Christmas tree!
