This wonderful and lovely sewing project by Jordan Fabrics on YouTube is one of my absolute favorite video tutorials, she just makes everything look incredibly easy and simple, just like this scrappy pillow sewing project! It only takes a few fabric pieces and very easy steps to make, learn how by following the written instructions down below, and while you’re at it, watch the video tutorial as well.

Materials:

  • Main fabric
  • Accent fabric
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Ruler
  • Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
  • Needle and thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Pattern (Click here to download the pattern)

Directions:

Step 1

Cut the fabric pieces that you’ll be needing, then start putting together the accent blocks, and sew the small squares on each opposite diagonal corner. Once done, cut off the excess fabric on the corner ¼-inch away from the stitching line, then open the fabric, and press it nicely. Repeat this with the rest of the pieces as well as the main fabric, then assemble the pieced fabrics into a single block, and sew them piece by piece.

Step 2

Press the blocks flatly, then sew them together into a larger block with a ¼-inch seam allowance, and press flatly. Next, lay a batting fabric underneath the patchwork, then baste around the edges, and stitch inside each one of the ditches. Add the quilt technique that you prefer, then make the backing of the pillow using the envelope method as shown in the video. Turn the pillowcase right side out, then smoothen it out nicely, and insert the pillow.
