If you’re looking for an easy technique on how to make a bunch of scrappy four-patch quilt units, then you’re in the right place. This tutorial from Missouri Star on Youtube is an effective and simple way to make these scrappy four-patches. It’s easy to follow, and you’ll be making a lot of these in no time. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step-by-step instructions.

Materials:

  • charm pack
  • ruler
  • rotary cutter
  • sewing machine
  • iron, for pressing

Directions:

Step 1

Take two pieces with contrasting colors out of the charm pack. Put them right sides together and sew down either side with a 1/4″ seam. Once you have enough blocks, chain-piece them through your sewing machine. Clip them apart and take them out one by one. Now, take your ruler and cut the fabric right in half. Repeat this for the rest of the sewn pieces, then iron them open. After pressing, sew them together, long sides together, side by side. You’ll gonna sew a long strip of them together.

Step 2

After this, lay it, fold one over, grab your ruler and come in 2 & 1/2″, and cut your first little 5 & 1/2″ piece off. Repeat this until you finished your long strip. Once you finish, you’ll end up with lots of scrappy four patches.
