Stained or distressed drawers are being used for a lot of decor items these days and they add a great touch of rustic charm to a home. These look good with a nice stain on them or painted white and distressed…whatever your preference might be.

As soon as we finished building our massive farmhouse dining table, I knew that we would need some kind of centerpiece to cozy up the space. I didn’t want anything too big that would clutter the whole table, but something that would fit in with our farmhouse theme and allow me to display some pretty seasonal flowers or other decorative items. I thought about doing some kind of Lazy Susan or a shallow basket at first, but I ended up going with a simple wood box that looks like a narrow drawer, because it’s super versatile and can be used in all kinds of different ways and it was really easy to make!

If you already have an old piece of furniture that has a narrow drawer in it, then you’re already set! You can also find these at thrift stores or flea markets too. Even better, get your hubby to build one for you!
