There are only a few days left till Christmas! The Christmas season is one of the few times of year when family and friends get together to exchange gifts and enjoy one other’s company over food and drink. It’s also a time to allow oneself to be nostalgic about the past;  collectively reminiscing childhood memories with siblings or parents. While with friends, I would always talk about the different sweets we used to gobble secretly behind closed doors lest our parents scold us for ruining our teeth. One important sweet snack though that most of our parents allow us to eat though are Oreos. Remember that commercial? You dunk it in milk? Well, oreos can be a holiday dessert as well. And because I was looking for a really quirky dessert this coming Christmas, I stumbled across this oreo candy recipe that can be done in 10 minutes with obviously just three ingredients! I tried making the candy from YouTube’s ‘Quick Simple & Delicious,’ and it did not disappoint. It’s quick, simple, and appropriate for the holidays.

Ingredients:

  • Two packets of Oreo cookies
  • 150 grams of mascarpone cheese or any cream cheese
  • 200 grams of white chocolate

Directions:

Start by crushing the cookies in a food processor. If you don’t have one, an alternative is to place them in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Then, place it in a bowl. Reserve 1 teaspoon of cookie crumbs to use as decoration later.

Put in mascarpone cheese or any cream cheese as a substitute. Mesh well with the crushed cookies until you achieve a soft, slightly sticky texture.

Take a walnut-sized portion of the mixture and shape it into a ball. Repeat until there’s nothing left of the mixture.

Place a bowl over a boiling pot of water. Put the white chocolate in the bowl to melt.

Dip the Oreo balls into the melted chocolate. After that, place them on a tray that’s layered with parchment paper. Sprinkle the reserved crumbs over the chocolate balls and refrigerate for at least 5 minutes. Then, serve this melt-in-your-mouth dessert. Truly, it’s a treat fit for this Christmas season.
