Are you looking for an easy yet cute patterned quilt? Look no more, as you’re in the right spot! This strip quilt project from Craftsy on Youtube will be your go-to pattern when you need a quick quilt for gifting. It’s a fun and easy quilt for beginners, but seasoned quilters will also find joy in making this quilt. It’s also a good choice if you don’t want to break up a nice-looking jelly roll. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions.

Materials:

  • different patterned fabrics
  • ruler
  • rotary cutter
  • backing fabric
  • batting
  • binding fabric

Directions:

Step 1

Out of all your fabrics, pick out your favorite and cut it into four 3″ strips. Next, cut a total of eighteen 3″ strips from the coordinating prints. After this, pair a strip of your favorite fabric and three strips of your coordinating fabric. Pin them in place to secure, and sew the right sides together, making a strip unit. Press the seams to the side afterward. Once you have your strip unit, rotate it, and straighten the unit. Then, subcut into three 10 1/2″ blocks. Repeat these steps with the rest of the fabric, making more strip units and more blocks. Lay them out however you like and once you’re satisfied, pin them together and sew the blocks together in rows, then the rows together.

Step 2

Now, pick out a fabric for the back of your quilt that is at least 2″ bigger than your quilt on all sides. Next, place a piece of batting roughly the same size on top of the backing. After this, place the quilt top on top of the batting, then baste the layers together. Now, machine quilt your piece, and once you’re finished, trim it and add finally add the binding.
