Ingredients:

  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1/4 onion, cut in slices
  • 2 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil, divided
  • red pepper flakes (optional)
  • salt and ground pepper, to taste

Directions:

Step 1

Slice the flank steak as thinly as possible and put them in a large mixing bowl. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste and set aside. Next, prepare the veggies: slice the green and red bell peppers into thin strips, cut the onion into slices, mince three cloves of garlic, and mince thumb-size ginger. Set them aside.

Step 2

Add 1 tbsp cooking oil to a large pan over medium heat. Add the bell peppers and onion and saute for three to four minutes. Once done, remove the veggies from the pan, add the rest of the cooking oil, and turn up the heat. Add the chopped steak and cook until browned (about five to six minutes). Next, stir in the minced garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds. After this, stir in the cooked bell peppers and onions.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 1/2 tbsp sugar, and 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch. Mix well and stir it in the pan. Cook for two to three minutes until sauce thickens. Serve and enjoy!
