This old-fashioned meatloaf recipe by Paula Deen on YouTube is a basic meatloaf that’s simple and easy to make. It’s a classic meatloaf that is a family favorite and can be served this dish alongside buttery cream potatoes and green beans. Meatloaf can be dry, but if it’s the right recipe, the meat would be tender and soft on the inside. The important part would be the glaze on top of the meatloaf which adds more flavor. I can’t wait to try to make this at home myself because I think it would be interesting with the oats.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 lightly beaten egg
  • 8 oz canned without juice diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 slices of bread

First, preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place 2 slice of bread at the bottom of the loaf pan. Mix ground beef, salt, onion, bell pepper, egg, tomatoes, and oats together well.

Overall, it’s a ground beef recipe that can be a hearty and comforting meal. I haven’t had meatloaf in so long, but this is a great recipe to make if I want something quick and easy to throw together. I know some people make their meatloaf spicy, so I would substitute the bell peppers with actually poblano peppers. It’s one of the easiest recipe to make if you like ground beef and want to serve it with some southern side dishes.
