I love face mask tutorials that require no sewing because I do not sew at all. I’ve never picked it up as a hobby, but this no-sew face mask from a t-shirt by Homemade on our Homestead on YouTube is ideal for me. There are a lot of people who do not know how to sew, or do not have a sewing machine. It’s super convenient. This mask looks super comfy to wear because it’s made out of stretchy material that has some percentage of spandex. A lot of masks are rough or not comfortable, but this looks soft and breathable.

Materials:

  • 1 piece of 8.5″ x 11″ printer pattern (to make your pattern)
  • scissors
  • Ruler
  • Sewing Pins (optional)
  • 1 upcycled T-shirt (needs to contain some percentage of spandex-for stretch) any size shirt will work.
  • (OPTIONAL if you want the filter material and nose wire piece)
  • 1 sheet of a blue shop towel (you’ll cut to size at the end of the video-roughly 8″ x 4″) OR coffee filter  OR paper towel
  • You don’t need all three of these-just one for your filter is fine (and optional)

Directions:

First, take the 8.5″ x 11″ printer paper and fold it in half lengthwise.  Grab a cup or coaster and place it along the top edges of the paper and trace around the curved edge on one side. Once that’s finished, draw long circle loops on each side.

Next, cut out those loopholes on both sides and you’ll have your mask template. Lay the mask pattern on top of the t-shirt with the most stretch. Trace around and then you’ll have your face mask.

If you want to add the filter pocket and nose wire, continue to watch Homemade on our Homestead’s tutorial. For me, I would just keep it as simple as it comes. I’m so glad I came across this tutorial because this no-sew face mask can be made under 5 minutes.
