I love the look of anthropology home decor but certainly can’t afford it. The shabby chic look of the anthropology home decor section is my absolute favorite home decor style, so when I came across this amazing tutorial from Julie Miranda, I knew I had to try it out.
Create your canvas pillowcase. It is usually cheaper to just make your own canvas pillowcases, but you could just purchase a canvas pillowcase as well. Typically canvas pillowcases run for about $15 at the craft store.
This is the fun part, you are going to decide how to decorate your pillowcases. In the video down below, Julie Miranda shows three different ways to decorate your pillows like Anthropologie.
For the fringe method, you will need yarn and hot glue. You can also incorporate some lace ribbons accents to your liking.

Wrap your yarn around a small piece of paper, then hot glue the edge of the yarn to your pillowcase. You will then cut the yarn on the opposite side of the paper to create the fringe. Repeat this process across the entire pillowcase.
Add any other embellishments to the pillow that you might want, You could braid some yarn, or even glue on some lace ribbon pieces.

For the painted mud cloth-designed pillowcase you will need black paint and a paintbrush.
This is by far the easiest of the pillows to make, and it will turn out super cute. This one is only one step.
Put your paint onto a plate or palette and dip your brush in. You will begin creating triangles, dots and lines to create a tribal mud cloth print.
Using a pencil or marker, draw out a pattern you like on the fabric. In the video, Julie Miranda did arrows and lines, but you can do whatever minimal pattern you like.
Using a large embroidery needle and yarn, poke holes and embroider your pattern into the canvas fabric.
All of these pillowcases come out so adorable and are much more affordable than Anthropologie pillows.
