Are you a big fan of sandwiches? Then you might have tried a Monte Cristo sandwich before. But if you haven’t, we got you. This comfort food has layers of ham, cheese, and mayonnaise, then dipped in custard and pan-fried until golden. You have to try this buttery and cheesy sandwich. Here’s a recipe by totikky tikky on Youtube! If you want it to be extra you can put turkey, jam, and some powdered sugar. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices of white bread or your preferred bread
  • 2 slices of cooked ham
  • 3 tablespoons of grated gouda cheese or any type of cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 9 teaspoons of mayonnaise
  • 5 tablespoons of milk
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of butter

Instructions:

Step 1:

Cut out all of the edges of the sliced bread.

Step 2:

Spread 3 teaspoons of mayonnaise on all 3 slices of bread. Then put the shredded gouda cheese or your preferred cheese onto all bread. Next, place 1 slice of cooked ham onto the two slices.

Step 3:

Assemble the sandwich by flipping the 2 slices of bread with cooked ham on top of the mayo and cheese slice. Press the sandwich lightly using a cutting board or any clean tray. Then place a heavy object on top to flatten the sandwich.

Step 4:

In a bowl, add 2 eggs, a little bit of salt, and 5 teaspoons of milk. Then mix it using a fork. Once done, place the sandwich into the egg mixture and let all sides soak.

Step 5:

Get your pan and turn the heat to medium. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt. Once melted, place the sandwich. Grill until golden brown on all sides. It will take about 3 minutes per side.

Step 6:

Once cooked, turn off the heat and remove it from the pan. Then slice the Monte Cristo sandwich into triangles and serve immediately.
