Finding a new quilt project to make this week? If you are, here’s another tutorial from Missouri Star. This pattern is called the Missouri crossroads quilt. Isn’t this quilt beautiful? The design is made from charm packs or 5″ squares. Jenny Doan used light fabrics for this project, but imagine using bright solid, colors – I am sure it will stand out more.

This pattern is one of the easiest projects you can make at home. It is perfect for beginners, as it does not involve any difficult steps. You will be making two blocks for this quilt – a four-patch and a snowballed square. I am sure you are already familiar with the four-patch block. It is just four squares sewn together. The snowballed square, on the other hand, is made by sewing two small squares on opposite corners of a bigger square. Both blocks are easy to make and beginner-friendly.
Take 4 pieces of 5″ squares and stack them together. Cut in half horizontally and vertically.
Take 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ print squares and 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ background squares. Arrange them in a four patch making sure they are alternating. Sew them together with a 1/4″ seam allowance and press open. You need two four patch blocks for each block.
Get a 5″ print square and cut into 4 1/2″ square. Take another 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ background squares and fold them in half diagonally to make a crease. Place them on opposite corners on the 4 1/2″ square and sew directly on the diagonal line. Trim the excess and press open. Make 2.
Arrange the four blocks just like in the photo below. Sew them together like a four patch and press open.
Make 7 rows with 6 blocks each. Arrange them in alternating directions. Add the inner border and outer border. Quilt, bind and have fun!
