If you’re looking for a fun DIY to make this summer season, I recommend this DIY melted bead suncatcher from BrightKidFun on YouTube. I swear, this is one of the prettiest DIY suncatchers I’ve seen, and it’s so quick and easy to make! For this project, you only need three simple items readily available at your local Dollar Tree.

It’s a fun and simple project that you can also sell at local craft fairs. I love making a bunch of these during summer together with my friends and hanging them in my bedroom window. It’s a fun way to play with the sun’s flair during the summer season! Learn how to make one by watching the video tutorial below for the step by step instructions.

Materials:

  • translucent pony beads
  • round-shaped baking pan
  • string

Directions:

Step 1

To start, arrange the plastic beads into a single layer, hole side up, in the round-shaped baking pan. You can design and layer the colors however you like, in this case, we did a rainbow pattern. Make sure to cover the bottom entirely, avoiding leaving gaps between the beads. (You can make small ones by using a muffin tin pan.) In the meantime, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2

Once you’re done with your design, place the baking pan in the preheated 350 degrees F oven and melt the beads for ten to fifteen minutes. (The best way is to use an outdoor grill if you have one.) After melting, remove from the oven and let everything cool before taking it out from the baking pan. Make a hole by drilling out the top part, then attach a string for the hang. Now, hang it outdoors or on your windows.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
