I love quilting all year round, but especially love quilting and sewing at Christmas time. Nothing makes the holiday season more bright and homey than DIY decorative accessories made from patchwork remnants fashioned into incredible holiday seasonal flair. I had some Christmas fabric and awesome fat quarters I bought on sale at JoAnn’s Fabrics for next to nothing but didn’t quite know what I was going to do with them. I went searching on Youtube for a great Christmas quilting idea for my holiday living area. I found this beautiful Christmas Tree Pillow and could not wait to try it! I started by Then I just followed the simple instructions and made my basic tree pattern out of a piece of Christmas Wrapping Paper and then used a Fat Quarter that I folded right sides together and laid my paper Christmas tree pattern on top, then traced it out with my disappearing fabric marker and cut it out with my new Olfa Scissors.
Then I sewed the tree right sides together, but I left the bottom open so I could turn it inside out.
Then I just turned it inside out and stuffed it with some organic cotton batting I got on sale at JoAnn’s Fabrics 75 percent off!
Then I just sewed the bottom end together by hand and that was it! This has to be the easiest, most simple, straightforward, cheap and awesome sewing ideas I’ve ever come across! This project is ideal for beginners and great for the experienced seamstress as well. I made 25 in a row to give away as gifts.
