This quilt from Material Girl Quilts on Youtube is a great project for beginners that is made using jelly rolls or pre-cut 2 & ½” strips. You can make this small or large, depending on what you need. You can also make this if you need something personalized to give as a present to your loved ones. Learn the step-by-step instructions by watching the video below.
Separate the jelly roll strips by color, then create strip sets. The sets will have 2 & 1/2″ strips per set (make sure you have three different colors and three different prints.) Once you’ve done this, you’ll have 12 strip sets. Next, take three strips within each set and sew them together using a 1/4″ seam on the long ends. This will finish at 6 & 1/2″ x WOF. After sewing, you will then cut it into your blocks. Grab your 6 & 1/2″ square ruler and line it up along one of the fabric’s seam lines to make sure that it’s straight. Start by trimming off the selvage, then cut a 6 & 1/2″ block. Continue to do this along your strip set every 6 & 1/2″ and you’ll end up with six blocks from each set.

For the quilt layout, grab one block and make sure that the next one you lay is going in the opposite direction. You will then have nine rows of eight blocks each. Continue to lay out the blocks, and for the next row, you do the same thing and rotate your block and you just continue along going the same way. After this, sew your blocks together.
