All you need is two different fabrics in the same size. The batting is optional. If you want your blanket to give more warmth, add batting. Remember that the more layers you add, the thicker the blanket will be, which can be harder for your machine to sew. Make sure you are using the right needle and settings for this project before you start. Here’s another fun project for you: 10-Minute Self Binding Baby Blanket With Jenny Doan
Note: The blanket is optional. If you want your blanket to be warmer, add batting.
Lay your first fabric on the ground, right side facing up.
Place the next fabric on top, right side facing down. Smooth it all out. Trim them down to the same size. If you are adding optional batting, lay it on top and iron it to get rid of wrinkles. Trim it to the same size. Pin all the way around the blanket.
Sew all the way around the edge, leaving a small opening. Do what is best for your machine. Remove pins as you go, making sure there is nothing folded underneath.
Turn it right side out.
Fold the opening, following the seam allowance, then pin it in place.
Top stitch all around the edges. If your machine can’t sew all the fabric together, you can just hand-stitch the opening close.
