This adorable sewing project by sewingtimes on YouTube is a great gift idea if you’re looking for something easy and inexpensive to make. You can even use some fabric scraps for this project and you can make a few of these if you want to sell them.
Quilting cotton, for the outer
Quilting cotton, for the lining
Other supplies you’ll need
Step 1
First, draw the pattern on the fabric as shown in the video tutorial, then cut them out accordingly, and fuse the fusible fleece at the center of the wrong side using an iron. Trim the piece by adding 3/8” from the edge of the interfacing. Next, pull the tab fabrics in half with their wrong sides facing together, then crease them with your hands, open each fabric, and fold each edge toward the center, press them nicely. Stitch along the long edges of the strip about 1/8″ from the edge, then insert the pull tab through the hole of the swivel snap, and place the pull tap of the front exterior piece securing them in place using some fabric clips. Sew them together with a ¼” seam allowance.

Step 2
Place the zipper on top of the outer fabric with their right sides facing together, then place the lining on top of the zip, and sew them together with a 3/8″ seam allowance. Open the fabric, then press the pieces away from the zipper, and sew the outer lining to the other side of the zip leaving a small opening on one side of the zipper. Turn the piece right side out, then press them, and topstitch 1/8″ away from the zipper leaving an opening on one side of the zipper. Turn it wrong side out, then center the zipper, and arrange the outer and lining nicely. Sew both sides with a 3/8″ seam allowance, then pull the seams together to form a flat base, and sew with a 3/8″ seam allowance. Turn the pouch right side out through the unstitched gap, then sew the gap close, and you’re done. Watch the video tutorial for more details.
