You can now customize your tablecloth to fit whatever shape your table is with this video tutorial by Hello Sewing on YouTube! You don’t need a lot of supplies and materials for this sewing project because you will only need a single fabric and some basic sewing tools. If you want to learn how to make this lovely project, then proceed to read the instructions down below and watch the video tutorial as well for more details.
Step 1
First, measure the length and width of your table, and if your table is round or oval in shape, then measure the widest and longest parts. Once you’ve got all of the measurements needed, decide on the drop length. For everyday use, drop length is around 10 to 12 inches, 16 to 24 inches for mid-length, and 28 to 30 inches for a floor length or for formal occasions. Next, cut your fabric to length by width size. To get the correct size, refer to the simple formula below.

Step 2
If your table is oddly-shaped, simply place the fabric over the table, then trace the shape of the table onto the fabric, and add the drop + hem all around the shape. Connect those marks, then cut out the excess fabric, fold over ½” around the seams, and press nicely. Make sure to clip them in place, then fold them over again for about 1″ or however wide you want your hem to be, press nicely and pin in place. Now, sew all around the whole fabric, you can leave the corners as they are or sew mitered corners. Watch the video tutorial to see how mitered corners are added.
