Instead of buying new ones, you can just use your old sweaters and turn them into stylish cardigans or vests, this way you can save more money and you can customize the size and style of the cardigan to your preference. Watch the video tutorial now to learn how.
Style #1
Fold the sweater in half lengthwise, then measure 20 inches from the bottom, and cut out the excess. Mark the neck and armholes, then cut them out, unfold them, and ensure the edges match. Start stitching the sides, then stitch the edges of the neck and armholes, tuck in the edges of the opening, and topstitch.
Style #2
Mark the midpoint of the sweater and line it up, then cut it open, and prepare the fabric for the collar and lining. Fuse them with interfacing, then stitch the lining to the collar, and stitch them in place as shown in the video. Lastly, add the button holes and buttons.
Style #3
Mark the midpoint of the sweater and line it up, then cut it open, fuse interfacing tape on the edges, and stitch the lining in place as shown in the video. Make the button holes, then add the buttons, and you’re done!
