Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup of popcorn
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/3 cup of butter
  • ½ cup of light corn syrup
  • ½ tsp of baking soda
  • Kool-Aid, any flavor you want

Directions:

Step 1

Place a large pot on a stove over medium heat, then add about three tablespoons of vegetable oil and one-third cup of popcorn, and cover the pot with its lid. Let all of the corn pop before removing it from the heat. Once all of the corn is done popping, remove the pot, and set it aside while preparing the kool-aid topping. Place a small pan on the stove, then add one cup of sugar, one-third cup of butter, and half a cup of light corn syrup, and let this cook for about three minutes while stirring consistently. After three minutes and the mixture starts to foam up, turn off the heat.

Step 2

Next, add about half a teaspoon of baking soda to the mixture, then give it a good stir until incorporated, and mix in the flavor of kool-aid that you want until well combined and uniform. Add the popcorn to the kool-aid mixture, then stir them around until the mixture is evenly distributed as much as possible, then pour this mixture into a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and spread it out into a thin layer. Put it in a preheated oven, then let this bake for about 40 minutes at 225 degrees making sure to mix every 10 minutes.
