Recently, I saw this easy beginner’s quilt video tutorial by Sewing Report, on YouTube, which is absolutely perfect for my needs. The entire quilt is made from scraps or a layer cake pack, which are pre-cut squares of fabric in a neat little package. All the squares are cut with pinking shears to prevent fraying, so they make the beginner’s job really easy. Sewing Report is known for its simple beginner quilt patterns and its no-nonsense method of teaching. This lattice quilt can be put together in a very short amount of time and the actual fastening of the batting and backing is so easy because you will be using all straight stitch lines.

  • Scissors
  • A rotary cutter
  • A cutting mat
  • An iron
  • An ironing board
