Homemade beef jerky is a great way to season your own meat and have it as a snack throughout the day. THEREALSHOWBBQ on YouTube shows how to make beef jerky in the air fryer. The air fryer he uses in this video serves as a dehydrator and an air fryer. It takes simple ingredients for this beef jerky recipe and can be better than store-bought since it’s fresh.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp coarse black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • top round or London broil beef

Directions:

First, make the marinade for the beef jerky. Mix all of the seasonings above and set aside. Prepare your meat by cutting it 1/4″ thick. It’s recommended to freeze the meat for about 30 minutes or longer before slicing it so it’s not mushy. Take the cuts of meat and place them into a freezer bag. Pour the marinade mixture right into the plastic bag with the meat and mix it around. Continue to watch THEREALSHOWBBQ tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.

Next, once the meat is finished marinating, blot the meat dry to take out any moisture from the meat. If there’s a dehydration setting on your air fryer, set it to 160F for 3-5 hours. However, I would just turn the air fryer temperature to a low temperature and let it cook for hours so it can crispy up and dry.

Overall, I love beef jerky and it’s a great way to sneak in protein throughout your day. You can season the meat however you like, and I’ve never throughout about making it in the air fryer. My dad would do it the old school way where he would lay the meat out in a food-layered basket and let it dehydrate on its own for a couple of days. Then, he would fry it in oil once it is ready and store it in the freezer for the uncooked ones.
