Are you looking for a simple sewing project that you can do quickly and easily? Then this timely DIY sewing tutorial is definitely for you. Our featured craft for today is by this amazing YouTuber RAY – Felt & Craft, this homemade star ornament is made out of felt fabric and embroidery thread that you can buy in your nearest dollar store. The finished product looks so adorable, you can hang it on your Christmas tree as an ornament or you can include it in your gifts for your family and friends.
First, draw and prepare your pattern. Make a line and a circle with a 5cm radius., draw arcs from the edge of the circle and a line that all meets towards the center. Mark 2.8cm from the center and draw a semicircle with a 2.8cm radius. Mark each points using a compass and draw lines connecting to the center point. Cut the pattern, leaving only the pointed edges, now you have a star pattern. Make a smaller star pattern by marking 1.8cm from the center to the inner lines and 3.5cm from the center to the outer lines. Connect the marks with a line and cut the pattern.
Pin the bigger pattern on a felt fabric, then cut 2 pieces of star. Trace the smaller pattern inside the felt star and trace with a white pencil. Get an embroidery thread and separate the strands, then insert altogether in a needle, stitch along the drawn line. Fold the smaller pattern in half and trace lines inside the felt, stitch along with strands of the thread. Create and stitch snowflakes details on the lines, then sew beads and sequins along the outer edges. Get a thread and insert pearls, make a loop then tie a knot on the end, attach it to a blank felt star. Join the two felt stars and blanket stitch together, then stuff with cotton.
