This DIY pleated reverse nose face mask by Sophie Passmore on YouTube is a new and improved design for breathability. It has a reverse nose fold design that fits over the bridge of the nose. There is no nose wire required, but it will still be a secured shut mask. Sophie provides a mask size chart, and I think it is very helpful because you can this mask at any size. This pleated face mask is easily adjusted if you need it bigger or smaller. Plus, it’s easy and quick to make if you have basic sewing skills. I want my mom to make me one of these because she makes face masks all the time, and there are lots of people who make face masks as a hobby now.
First, with the right sides together, center the back and front fabric. They should be the same size and it should overlap on the front of each side. Continue to watch Sophie Passmore’s tutorial on YouTube for full instructions on how to create a pleated face mask.
Next, 0nce the pleats and ridges are made, create the side channels by pressing a very small hem in towards the mask. Make sure the side channels are wide enough for a safety pin to go through. Stitch very close to the mask side of the channel, and thread the elastic onto a safety pin and push through the channel.
Overall, this is a great design for a mask for those that do not have a nose wire. It’s very protective and there’s no fogging so this is perfect for those that wear glasses. I like the look of this mask because it’s not too bulky either.
