How To Make A Crumb Quilt

Materials:

• scraps of fabrics
• rotary cutter
• cutting mat
• table thread cutter
• mini iron

Directions:

Step 1

To start, find a large scrap of fabric with a straight edge. Take other crumbs of fabric and find the straight edges as well. Put them in a row over the first piece with the right sides of the fabrics facing together, and start sewing in a straight line. Continue this with every small piece of fabric that you have. Once done, separate each piece with your rotary cutter. Press these pieces open and press the seam allowances to one side. From this point onward, you’ll just repeat the process: find another big piece of fabric and start laying out the small pieces. Remember to find the straight edges and align them over the larger edge.

Step 2

When you reach a point where your crumb quilt blocks don’t have straight edges anymore, just cut a straight edge on one end. (You can arrange your straight edges facing one side so it’s easier for you to fit them through the machine.) Once you form large crumb quilt blocks; start to form them into a bunch of different shapes and sizes. Sew the crumb blocks together once you’re satisfied with the pattern.
