Having a bird feeder in your backyard is a great way to relax and enjoy the wildlife, as it can attract different types of birds. It is a great source of entertainment while having your morning cup of coffee or taking a break from work in the afternoon. You can see them directly from your window and hear them chirping. It is definitely a nice way to unwind. But, it can also be stressful, especially if you have a lot of squirrels in your area, as they scare off the birds. The reason why squirrels eat from bird feeders is because they love black oil sunflower seeds found in most seed mixes.

If you are dealing with the same problem and want to learn how to keep squirrels off your bird feeder, check out this awesome idea by Brandon K. Of course, you can buy squirrel-proof bird feeders, but they can be expensive. You can also grease the pole, but it can be laborious since you have to do it twice a day every day. In the video, he will show an easy and inexpensive way to keep these little creatures away from your regular bird feeder.
Start by drilling a hole in the center of the end cap the same size as the pole of your bird feeder.
Insert the end cap onto the pole of the bird feeder with the open side facing down just like in the photo below.
Drill a screw on the top part of pole. This will serve as the support of the cap, so it won’t go down. If you have a solid pole, you can use a hose clip.
Insert the PVC pipe into the pole and attach to the cap.
If you don’t like the lettering on the PVC, all you need is a break cleaner or carb cleaner.
