If you cut an avocado in half and only use one half, you can keep the other one with the pit fresh by placing it in a glass container with a metal lid. A mason jar is great for storing them. Just place the other half with the pit inside a clean glass jar and close it with the lid. It will stay fresh for about a week after you cut it.
For whole avocados, store them in your crisp drawer with lemons. They will stay fresh for a month when you first buy them.
